Karen Castillo is a Chicana woman located in San Bernardino, CA, where she’s lived most of her life. She went to UCLA to receive a Bachelor’s in English with creative writing and is currently back in the Inland Empire completing a graduate program in education and teaching. Although she’s delved into different styles of poetry, Karen specializes in short fiction writing. Through her work, she aims to bend and combine genres, incorporate poetics and figurative language, and explore her family history and identity. Karen has been published by local magazines and has self-published some of her work. She hopes to become more involved with her local arts community.
